TEHRAN – Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, the chairman of the Expediency Council, has highlighted the role of seminaries and ulema in the recent victories of the Iraqi nation against Daesh (ISIS) insurgents.

Hashemi Shahroudi made the remarks in a meeting with Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, on Sunday, Mehr reported.

He also praised the Islamic Republic for its support and the Shia maraji for declaring jihad against the terrorists.

“Victory in the war against Daesh is a divine blessing,” he added.
